AutoCAD Software Compatibility PDF Print E-mail

AcceliCAD has a very high level of functional and DWG-level compatibility with AutoCAD. Simply put, anyone who can use AutoCAD can use AcceliCAD without any additional training.

AcceliCAD also has a very highly level of DWG file compatibility with AutoCAD starting with AutoCAD 2.5 going up to and including AutoCAD 2008 DWG format. Virtually any DWG file created with AutoCAD can be read by AcceliCAD. Why do we say virtually? Because there have been a few rare and exceptional cases of difficult-to-read DWGs with AccceliCAD. In every case so far this has been acknowledged and rectified.

For all it's compatibility with AutoCAD, AcceliCAD is not just a copy-cat clone. AcceliCAD actually goes quite a way further than AutoCAD to giving you the drawing and design tools you need with useful productivity tools and exclusive features.

Mouse over titles below to see examples of compatibility between AcceliCAD and AutoCAD...

3D surface commands3D surface commands
AcceliCAD's sophisticated 3D capability allows creation of high-quality 3D models. You can display them as wireframes, with hidden lines removed, or with surface shading.

ACIS Object Display
AcceliCAD can display and print ACIS objects created in other CAD programs.

ACIS 3D solid modeling
AcceliCAD also includes the ability to create and edit ACIS objects.

XREF Clipping
After attaching a drawing as an external reference, you can define a clipping boundary by entering the xclip command. Defining a clipping boundary enables you to display only a portion of an external reference, suppressing the display of geometry outside the boundary.

Complex Linetypes
A complex linetype contains embedded shape and text objects along with dots, dashes, and spaces.

TrueType Fonts
AcceliCAD supports TrueType fonts.

Industry standard SDS support
To run your custom Autodesk Development System (ADS) applications in AcceliCAD, simply recompile them using the SDS libraries included on the AcceliCAD CD-ROM. That's all it takes. Many third-party developers have already recompiled their ADS and C++ applications to run with AcceliCAD's SDS API.

LISP support (including DCL
AcceliCAD preserves your investment in existing custom applications by supporting the AutoLISP programming language. You can run LISP applications that reference any of the hundreds of AcceliCAD commands with little or no modification. What's more, AcceliCAD reads DCL files that contain dialog control language statements.

Support for industry standard commands
AcceliCAD supports hundreds of AutoCAD commands. Select AcceliCAD commands from the pull-down menus and toolbar icons, or type AcceliCAD command syntax at the optional command line prompt whichever best fits your work style.

Digitizer support
AcceliCAD supports some Wintab compatible devices for both tablet mode for tracing and tablet menus for command input.

Native DWG support, including V2.5-2009
AcceliCAD uses industry standard DWG as its native file format. AcceliCAD opens, edits, and saves any existing DWG files saved in V2.5 through 2009, without conversion or data loss. That makes AcceliCAD more compatible with older versions of DWG files than AutoCAD itself.

Save as DWF - Export to web
Create drawing files suitable for Internet transmission and Web display in DWF format.

Industry standard menu (.MNU) and script (.SCR) files
AcceliCAD supports industry standard menus (MNU), dialog boxes (DCL), fonts (SHX), scripts (SCR), and symbol libraries, so you can easily transfer custom AutoCAD environments into AcceliCAD and continue working in your favorite drafting environment.

Raster image display
AcceliCAD lets you view and export WMF, EMF (Enhanced Metafile), and SLD (slide) files. It also displays any BMP, GIF, JPG, TIF, PCX, and CALS Type 1 images that are embedded in DWG files using the raster technology licensed from Hitachi.
